I want to tell you about a service, it's a social network that I think all vacation rental owners should join, it's called nextdoor.com, and it's really cool because what it is. It's a social network that allows you to join no matter where you actually live, you join the neighborhood where your vacation rental is, so you could live 3,000 miles away and still be connected to all of your neighbors next door to your vacation rental.
What does this do and why do you need to do it? There are a few reasons, but it really helps you, keep your ear to the ground, you're able to listen in and hear if there's any problems or issues that are going on with vacation rentals in your area.
It's really a great way to prevent anti vacation rental laws and allow you to be proactive, and if you hear things that are going on you can organize with other owners and get ready for that, so that you can take advantage of what you need to do, also it gives you a some cool stuff. I'm going to walk through a couple of things with you right now, here we go.
We're looking right now at my homepage, and it's just kind of a typical homepage with some information, but you've got an inbox for messages if people want to send me those. I actually have a list of my actual neighbors right here by name and address, that's got their photo, I can send them a message, I can look them up.
Next thing is this map, this is pretty cool, it tells how many households are in the neighborhood of the printer, I have eight percent of my neighborhood is on Nextdoor right now. This is my cabin right here, these are all my neighbors, the ones in green are already on Nextdoor, the ones in red are not as of yet, be classifieds, and this is kind of like a little mini craigslist, so you can buy, sell, donate items which you either want to buy or get rid of, which is great, and you can help a neighbor out. That's what this does.
It helps you be aware of crime and safety is the next one. You can be aware of what's going on in your neighborhood, people are giving away things, you can update things in your VR very inexpensively, and lost and found is another one, so it just is a way to help out.
What I've done already in just a few short months, I've been on here, I've offered to pick up anything from down in Phoenix, I'm about two hours away from my vacation rental, so people were very thankful that I offered that, I've also answered a couple of questions, and so I'm making friends even though I'm not there.
It's a really great thing, so what I would recommend is go ahead and join nextdoor.com, if there's not already one in your neighborhood, if you click on the link that I provided, you can get twenty-five dollars in the form of an Amazon gift certificate, just start a next-door neighbor in your area. It's a great tool a great way to help your neighbors, and also to help you prevent anti vacation rental boss.
